CAGE SUSPENSION GEAR ARRANGEMENTS IN MINES

CAGE SUSPENSION GEAR ARRANGEMENTS

WHAT IS CAGE SUSPENSION GEAR ARRANGEMENTS IN MINES?
The attachment used to attach the rope with cage is known as cage suspension gear.
It consist of a rope capel which is attached to the one end of the rope & its another end is attached to the safety hook through ‘D’ link. The another end of the safety hook is attached to a triangular plate to a ‘D’ link & bull chain. And then at last The triangular plate is attached by the cage chains or Bridle chain.

ROPE CAPEL

Are widely used for connecting the winding rope to the suspension gear. The use of rope Capel is a basic requirement of safety in winding.

D-LINK

These are used to attach any two components of cage suspension gear & to adjust the height of cage suspension gear. The diameter of the link rod should be 1.5 times the rope’s dia. & should not be any join in the link.

SAFETY HOOK

It is a safety device which acts when an over winding is takes place. Its purpose is to suspend the cage or skip in the headgear if an over winding occurs & at the same to  release the rope Capel to go over the headgear pulley.
It is always placed just below the rope Capel.

TRIANGULAR PLATE

Triangular plate is also known as load distributing plates. Its function is to distribute the load of the cage, hence it is known as load distributing plate.
it consist of one hole at the top which is connected to the safety hook & at the lower end it consists of three holes which are connected to the cage through bridle chains.

BRIDLE CHAINS

These are used to attach the cage with the triangular plate, For a small cage only four chains are used  at the four corners of the cage while in case of large cage total six chains are used. Out of these six chains two central chains doesn’t carry any load & these are used in case of failure of corner chains.

SIDE DISCHARGE LOADER MACHINE (SDL) IN UNDERGROUND MINES

SIDE DISCHARGE LOADER MACHINE It is a popular coal loading machine of u/g mines. Which is mounted on the crawler track and is designed for loading the broken rocks on to a conveyor, in tub or to unload coal to the right or left of the machine. Being crawler mounted the SDL can work in gradient up to 1 in 4. It is totally flameproof machine, which make them suitable for operation in gassy mines.  Side Discharge Loader Machine A SDL has a bucket at front, which load the coal /ore from the face and transport or dump onto the chain conveyor, belt conveyor  which is installed near the faces or in tub and mine cars. All the movements of bucket are done hydraulically for which hydraulic pack is mounted on machine itself. The bucket capacity of SDL is 1𝒎^𝟑. The Motor capacity is 65 HP/ 550 V. the motor shall be DGMS approved and ISI marked. The SDL can work in distance upto 10m. Due to its crawler mounted it is not use for long distances. The SDL is used wher

DRUM WINDING IN MINES

DRUM WINDING There are four different shapes of Drum used in India these are A)Cylindrical Drum. B)Conical Drum. C)Cylindro-conical Drum. D)By-Cylindro-conical Drum. CYLINDRICAL DRUM A Cylindrical or parallel drum is a simple and robust in construction. The winding ropes are attached at the end of the drum barrel, and arrange to coil on the drum in the opposite direction, so that when the drum rotates one cage will be raised and other lowered. The rope coiling underneath the drum is called  under lap. The rope coiling over the top of the drum is the   overlap. It may be either grooved or plain. Its serious drawback is that,  it can be used for shallow shaft only. In winding from deep shaft, the weight of one winding  rope will exceed the weight of the coal raised per wind. Thus there will an excessive load on engine when starting and negative loads towards the end of the wind causing heavy brake wear. This unbalancing of load in cylindrica

HEADGEAR STRUCTURE IN MINES

HEADGEAR STRUCTURE HEADGEAR STRUCTURE It is a steel or concrete frame work on the shaft mouth. The headgear consists of nearly, vertical columns which is two front legs columns, two main leg columns  & two back legs columns. Which is inclined at 1 in 8 to 1 in 10. towards the winding engine room. The vertical and inclined legs are joined by horizontal girder. The top of the headgear has a steel platform, or plate & the bush bearing of the winding pulleys, rest on the vertical numbers of headgear frame. Above the banking level, there is a detaching plate or detaching bell which is fixed in the headgear structure. This detaching plate is fixed at the height of length of cage + length of cage suspension gear + 3 to 7 m.  This margin of 3 to 7 meter allows a cage to be lifted for materials, to be slung, beneath it. Above the Detaching plate there is a headgear pulley which is fixed at the top of the structure and the winding rope is passed over the headgea
